In the Harry Potter canon, Snape fails to teach Harry Occulemeny.  JKR doesn't provide any actual canon reasons why this failed, beyond Snape whining about how Harry is such a spoiled dunderhead.  Here are some possible reasons:

I realized lately that I'm firmly in the Manipulative-if-not-actually-EVIL!Dumbedore camp.  So firmly so that when I started reading a new HP fic lately where Harry and Hermione immediately asked for Dumbledore's help,and TOLD  HIM  EVERYTHING, I was going "WTF  ARE  YOU  DOING?!?!?"  Then I realized that Dumbledore wasn't evil in this fic ( Read more... )

My first chance to see this movie.  ABC has been showing the previous movies recently, but in a VERY odd order.  I don't recall them showing Goblet of Fire, but I could have missed it.  But LAST week was Chamberpot of Excretion.

OK, I have now read the last Harry Potter book: Harry Potter and the Deathly HallowsI expected not to like it much, given the things I'd heard about it being dark, and JKR killing off characters, etc. It was at least decent, and possibly good. I've heard people say that Dumbledore was pushing Harry to suicide, but that's not really the case. ( Read more... )
